RUSS STONE

Graduated from Enfield High School in 1989 playing varsity hockey & soccer for 4 years. Averaged forty points a season in Hockey. His EHS Hockey team was 2-time CCC-East League champions, and one-time CT State Div. II Champion (scoring 3 goals, 3 assists in state championship game). Three-time all-conference player and an All-State honoree. Captain of the 1987, 1988, 1989 Hockey teams. Led his EHS soccer team to the CCC East Championship in 1987 (the first EHS team ever to win the CCC East Championship). Named CCC East All-Conference in 1986, 1987, 1988, and All-State honors in 1987 & 1988. Selected to play in the All-State Senior Bowl for soccer. Attended Avon Old Farms Prep School as a Post-Grad, and played New England Division 1 Varsity Hockey and Soccer. Played 4 years of Varsity hockey at Connecticut College. Named team captain in 1993/94 team and named MVP. Selected for All-NESCAC player of the week honors 7 times in his career while at Connecticut College. Holds the Connecticut College school record for most assists in a game (5), and is currently 1 of 20 players with over 100 points in school history.

KIRK PARKER

Led The Enfield High School Wrestling team as their Head Coach from 1974-1999. Provided tremendous inspiration, motivation, and life-long skills to our youth in addition to his wrestling leadership. His teams of 1979 and 1984 won the Connecticut Class L State Championships. The Enfield High School Wrestling teams of 1982 and 1983 finished Second in the State of Connecticut, while his 1979, 1983, and 1986 also won their league titles. His team’s success was attributed to the dedication and commitment of his student athletes and assistant coaches. He instilled positive attitude and values and expected maximum effort in both practice and competition. In all, he coached nineteen Divisional State Titleist’s, and three State Open Champions. The Kirk Parker Wrestling Cup is awarded annually to the winner of the Enfield High vs. Enrico Fermi High School’s wrestling competition.

GAYLE (HUTCH) HUTCHINSON

Three-sport athlete from Enrico Fermi High School. Dominated in field hockey (junior/senior). Basketball (sophomore, junior, senior) three years. Softball team was undefeated in her sophomore year. The softball team lost in the state finals her senior year. Played 4 years of Varsity Field Hockey at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and named co-captain her senior year; the team was fourth in the country her senior year. Played UMASS Basketball for two years (freshman/sophomore), and varsity Lacrosse. Her Lacrosse team was fourth in the country junior year, and second in the country her senior year. In 1979, received a B.S. in Physical Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In 1983, she earned a M.A. in Curriculum Development and Teaching Analysis from the Teachers College, Columbia University, and in 1990, secured an Ed. D. in Physical Education and Staff Development from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Currently, Dr. Hutchinson is Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at California State University, Channel Islands in Camarillo, CA.

JOHN MAYO JR.

Three-sport (football, baseball, and basketball) & 1976 Enrico Fermi High graduate. Named All-league (CCIL) in his senior year for football and baseball. Enfield American Legion baseball in 1975 (Zone 8 champs), and in 1976 was named to Zone 8 All-Star team. Played Trinity College football and baseball, and graduated in 1980. Three-sport Coach for 25 consecutive years (1980-2004) in baseball, basketball, and football. Coached ninety seasons at High School-level, one at the College-level, and eight in summer baseball. Coached many local sports teams, including at East Windsor High, Enrico Fermi High, Enfield High, Longmeadow High (MA), Minnechaug High (Wilbraham, MA), Stafford High, South Windsor High, and Belchertown High (MA). Assistant coach of Enfield American Legion Baseball team, and head coach at Dreambat Bombers baseball team. Assistant Football coach at American International College. Served as Athletic Director for Stafford High School for 2 years. Coaching honors include winning 3 league titles for Longmeadow High Varsity baseball; Assistant Coach for the 2007 East Windsor High School State Championship basketball team; 2012 American Baseball Coaches Association’s Coach of the Year; 2012 Western MA Division 3 football Coach of the year; Made the playoffs for football at Belchertown High (MA) in 2010 – 2012, and won the league title in 2012.

GEORGE DALY JR SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD – Mount Carmel Society

The Mt. Carmel Society of Enfield, CT started in 1926, and has spent many decades of supporting various sporting activities in town. A strong focus of the club has been on athletics and giving back to the residents, especially in Thompsonville. Mt. Carmel has been the proud sponsor of many youth and semi-professional boxing matches, sports clinics, little league baseball, girls’ softball, midget, flag, and organized football teams/leagues, including The Thompsonville Greys all played onsite. They have donated their facility, time, food, and money to many organizations to help benefit youth groups and sports teams. They have enhanced our town by bringing many professional athletes (Boston Red Sox, UCONN, WNBA, BOXING, and TV personalities) to the facility and have them share their talents and wisdom with our residents. The youth of Thompsonville and all of Enfield, CT have benefited over the years from Mt. Carmel’s generosity and leadership in athletics, financial sponsorship, and family values. Creating a home for our youth to compete in athletics and promote life-lessons has been a core value that the Mt. Carmel Society has led for over 80 years.
