Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame Bulletins - Upcoming Events !

The 26th annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the Class of 2023 is Friday, September 15, 2023, at Oakridge Country Club in Feeding Hills, MA.  The evening will commence with cocktails/hors d’oeuvres at 5:00pm (current inductees, immediate family, and past Hall of Famer’s only). All general public guests will arrive at 5:30pm, and the program/dinner starting promptly at 6:30pm.

Here are the honorees for the Class of 2023:  Jack Griffin, Steve Jones, Mike Little, Justine Lombardi, Stacey Wilhelm, and Neil Beaulieu will receive the George Daly Jr. Special Recognition Award. Both the 1961 Enfield High School Football team (Suburban League Champions), and the 1984-85 Fermi High School Cheerleading team (Grand Champion of the International Cheerleading Foundation) will also be honored.

This wonderful event brings together all of our community to a star-studded dinner and presentations. A cash bar service will be offered to all over 21 years old. Each of the inductees, teams, and George Daly, Jr. Special Recognition Award winner will be interviewed by our emcee.  There will be a slide show highlighting the inductees, past and present. Reserved table seating is available. It will be recorded by Cox Communications, our local cable company.

Our preferred payment for the everyone is via check. It can be mailed to Michael Cotnoir, 39 Circle Drive, Enfield, CT 06082 – payable to the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame.

For general admission, the Hall of Fame will lose money due to the transaction fee if paid via credit card via the website.  The general admission adult price is $45 and a Child is $25. Everyone, including Hall of Fame inductees and team members, will have to register on the website. Please indicate your ticket price, as applicable.  Please register on the site before 9/10/23. Donations are most welcome too.

We will have an assigned banquet coordinator for the inductees/teams only. ALL registrations will need to occur on this website, but payments can be made via check in advance.

The tentative agenda for the induction ceremony is below:

  1. *Special Hall of Famer (and immediate family) reception will be held from 5 -5:30pm.
  2. Normal cocktails/Cold Hors d’oeuvres – 5:30-6:30pm; Class group photo to be taken at 6:20pm in ballroom. Wait outside in lobby after photo.
  3. Parade of champions (all Past & new Hall of Famer’s march into ballroom in specific order) – 6:30pm;
  4. Introductions, and George Daly, Jr Award winner. Team Awards – 6:45pm-7:30pm;
  5. Dinner – 7:30-8:15pm
  6. Class of 2023 Induction ceremony continued/speeches – 8:15pm prompt

FIELD HOCKEY JAMBOREE

The friends of Amy Romano Sports Committee facilitates the “The Amy Romano Memorial Field Hockey Jamboree” annually in late August/Early September at Enfield High School. The jamboree is attended by 15-25 regional high school teams and does not count as official games. 100% of the profits go to funding the Amy Romano Memorial Scholarship fund. The event was started in 2009, and honors the legacy of the 1997 Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame recipient and longtime Enfield teacher, Amy Romano. Sadly, Amy passed away in 2007 at the age of 40. This event brings together over 150 girls for the day, and their teams play multiple scrimmage games to sharpen their skills before the season starts.

NOTE: The 2023 Amy Romano Memorial Field Hockey Jamboree will be held on August 27th starting at 10am. The 14th annual event will be held at Enfield High School (1264 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT).   All profits will be donated to The Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame for the “Amy Romano Memorial Scholarship” Entrance fee is $100.00 per team. Scrimmages will be 7×7 (20 minutes) with a guarantee of 4 scrimmages. Scrimmages will be played on both grass and turf fields. Guarantee of one 11×11 game on a grass field. Limited to the first 16 paid in full teams. All entries must be paid and submitted no later than AUGUST 15, 2023. For more information please contact: Marie Pyznar at 860-741-3432, Email: mpyznar@sbcglobal.net . The Hall of fame committee welcomes new candidates for consideration to the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame.
