Kim Bridge

Played rec and travel soccer for Enfield teams. Soccer at JFK Middle school for 2 years & was undefeated each year. Attended Fermi High School (1991-95) & All-Conference all 4 years. In 1994, named team MVP, set the school record for shutouts, and recognized as Hartford Courant Spotlight Athlete of the week. Played for World Class Soccer Team of Manchester, CT. (1991-95), and participated in Olympic Development Program (’92-95). Attended Dean College (1995-97) with received Associates Degree in Athletic Training. Two-time All-Conference, All-New England, and All-American as a Goalkeeper at Dean. All-Conference Softball player and Female Athlete of the Year (1997) by being awarded the Michelle Porter Award at Dean. Attended ECSU (1997-2000), was All-Conference for 2 years & student athletic trainer. Played for W-2 Springfield Sirens Professional Soccer Team (’00-’02) and ’02 team became National champions & named W-2 goalkeeper of the year. Participated in United Soccer League Combine Qualifying Invitational Jamboree (2001), and Women’s United Soccer Association Combine. Goalkeeper for W-1 Boston Renegades who were National Champions (2001). Played for Women’s Premier Soccer League New England Mutiny Team (‘03) that was a semi-finalist in the National Tournament. Played for Western MA Pioneers (‘04). Coached soccer at various schools including Windham High (’01), Enfield High JV soccer (’02-‘04), JV Softball coach at Windsor High (’04-’05) and Head Varsity soccer & softball coach at Putnam High School. She teaches Health and PE at Killingly Intermediate School and is a personal trainer in Woodstock, CT.

Kristin (Carvill) O’Connor

Attended Enfield Street School, JFK Middle School, and EHS (’90). Involved in competitive roller figure skating (ages 5-13), and qualified for national competition in Nebraska. Holds 4 EHS girl’s track records: 4×100 relay (52.34, 1989), 100 meters (12.30 sec.-1990), 200 meters (25.95 sec.-1990) and 400 meters (61.90 sec.-1990). At the Greater Manchester-Journal Inquirer (JI) Invitational Track Meet, ranks in the all-time top 11 in three events: 100 meters (4th and 5th), long jump (4th), and 200 meters (11th). At JI Meet in 1989, her 17’2” leap stood as a record for 7 years. Won NE championship in 100 meters, and runner-up in 200 meters (’90). Named 1st team All-State (’90), and received the CT Association of Schools Scholar-Athlete Award. Appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy after high school and was recruited to run track there, but decided to accept a full scholarship to Northeastern University. Ran track for NU (Div. 1) from 1991-95. Team won the North Atlantic Conference (now America East Conference) championship each year. Member of 4×100 relay team that won the NE championship in 1991; ran 4×200 and 4×400 relays, and 100 meters (11.90 sec) and 200 meters (24.50 sec). Twice competed in Penn Relays NCAA track. Captained Northeastern Univ. team in her senior year, and graduated 2nd in her class, majoring in criminal justice, then earned her Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education with a perfect 4.0 GPA

Bob Lengyel

In spring of 2009, began 43rd consecutive year of coaching at the High School level in Enfield. A 1955 graduate of Naugatuck High School, where he played on the football, golf, and swimming teams. New England YMCA Trampoline champion (1953), and finished 5th in New England Diving championships (1955). At SCSC, competed for 2 seasons in gymnastics and swimming, and golfed all 4 years (captain in 1964). Began teaching Physical Education at EHS in 1966, and moved to Fermi High when it opened in 1970-71. He returned to EHS from 1992-2000 and retired from teaching. Assistant Football coach at EHS (’66-70); EHS Golf (1967-70), including 1970 CDC Champions; Enrico Fermi High boys swimming coach for 20 years and girls swimming for 10 years. Fermi High football Assistant for 10 years, and coached Golf for 16 years. Coached Fermi High track for 6 years, and returned to EHS Golf since 2001 & was NCCC Champions in 2003 and 2008 Co-Champions

William B. Newson III

Played in the Enfield Hockey Association from 1981-1988, and for Enrico Fermi High School hockey team in 1992-93. Attended Suffield Academy from 1994-96. Member of Gary Dineen’s Junior Pics hockey organization from 1993-1996. Member of the Eastern Junior Hockey League Champions in 1995-1996, and led team in goals (38), assists (67), and points (105). Earned a full scholarship to Northeastern University and named team captain from 1997-2000. Led the 1997 Northeastern University team in scoring. Played 8 ½ years of Professional Ice Hockey. Named two-time allstar in 2000 with the Amarillo Rattlers hockey team (2000), and with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (2003). Finished as the All-time leader in points and goals for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (Central Hockey League). Finished professional hockey career with 173 goals, 176 assists, and 349 points and played in 458 games.

Jack Taylor

Played Hazardville Little League & named to several All-Star teams in both Major and Senior Leagues. 1972 Enfield High graduate, and played 3 years of Varsity baseball. Named Captain in his senior year at EHS, and on All-Capital District Conference All Star Team in his Junior and Senior years. He ranks among the all-time Winn ingest pitchers in EHS history, amassing 20 career victories, including eight in one season (tied for second highest single season total). Played Enfield Post 80 American Legion baseball team to a Runner-up finish in 1973 CT State Tournament, & named to the All-Tournament team. Played 4 years of varsity baseball for UCONN (1973-1976), and ranks first in school history with career earned run average of 0.99. Holds record for most consecutive innings without an earned run—49 2/3 innings. Owns three of the top 11 single season ERA’s in UCONN’s history: 0.44 in 1976 (third), 0.94 in 1974 (seventh), and 1.25 in 1975 (11th). The 0.44 ERA in 1976 led the nation with all Division I NCAA baseball teams. As a senior at UCONN, named Tri-captain and to First Team All-New England Division I All-Star Team as a Pitcher. The 1976 UCONN baseball team were Yankee Conference Champions, and led the Nation’s Division I teams with a 1.71 Earned Run Average. Signed by MLB’s Philadelphia Phillies, & played for Spartanburg Phillies & Peninsula Pilots in Western Carolina and Carolina leagues

Pasquale (Pat) Uricchio – George Daly, Jr. Special Recognition Award Winner

A long time devotee of Enfield Sports, who coached the youth of our town since 1967. His coaching started at the Little league level and progressed to the varsity high school level. Pat coached in the Thompsonville Little League from 1967-1973 producing championships in 1968 & 1972. He was named All-Star coach from 1969-73, and served as league vice president from 1969-73. At Enrico Fermi High School, he coached Boys Freshman Basketball (1985-88); Girls Junior Varsity Soccer (1988-91); Girls Junior Varsity Basketball (1990-95); Girls Varsity Basketball (1996-99); Girls Junior Varsity Softball (2002-2008). At EHS, he was the Girls Junior Varsity Softball coach (1998-2001). The annual Enfield Rotary Christmas Basketball tournament MVP award is named in his honor.
